Pie Wager Time!

We’ve got about a month to go. This little baby is due June 25th and we want to know when you think she’s coming. So, send me an email with date and time (for tie-breaker) and we’ll send a pie from Mom’s Apple Pie in Leesburg to the winner. Arlo was right on his due date, which Umpa guessed and for which he received a sour cherry pie!

This morning Arlo and our wonderful sitter went to a make-up music class while Justin and I went into DC for a midwife appointment. All is well with me and baby. 35 weeks along - amazing how quickly it’s gone by! Jus and I got to have a special lunch date after the appointment. It was a wonderful morning. This afternoon has been just as great. After a quick nap Arlo and I snuggled and read a few books, then headed down to “Heron Beach” (a little rocky spot along our creek where we regularly see heron fishing) for a super special treat: fruit juice popsicle! After our shared treat, Arlo stripped down to just his creek shoes for some wading and exploring with Tony. Then we went for an adventure hike along “Puma Path” - the trail Justin cut for us with lawn mower and weed whacker. If that wasn’t enough we headed off to the post office and noticed the doors at the local fire station were open, so we stopped by to “check everything out and see what the guys and ladies are up to.” While we were there Arlo got a new plastic fireman hat, got to stand in the rescue boat and sit in the driver’s seat if the big truck. While he was up there their alert went off- out came 4 firemen who calmly hopped in the truck, turned on lights and sirens and headed out of the station! What a show! My favorite part was Arlo cheering “way to go guys and ladies!!” as they pulled out without any prompting from me: polite, supportive and gender equal all at 2.5 what more could a mama hope for?!

This morning had his first swim lesson without me in the water with him. We’ve did classes together at the YMCA last fall but it was time for him to get a little more serious. We found a great place around 20 min from our house and Arlo will be going once a week. I’m so proud of how well he did without me with him. He said “no thank you” to putting his head under the water but was just find blowing bubbles, nose and ears in and floating on his back.

Yesterday was spring farm day at a local park that has an equestrian center and working farm. If this isn’t the happiest pony-smile I’ve ever seen!!
